ClinicaHealth Powers Lung Cancer Alliance's Online Community

Leading lung cancer advocacy group uses online community to expand patient support programs.

ARLINGTON, VA - August 7, 2006 - ClinicaHealth, the leading provider of online health community solutions, today announced the launch of the ClinicaHealth-powered online community for the Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA). Through the online community, the LCA (www.lungcanceralliance.org) plans to bring the lung cancer community together in a single space, providing patients, survivors and caregivers with more support options and strengthening the LCA as the "go-to" organization for all lung cancer information.

"We are delighted to offer the LCA our online community solution that will dramatically enhance the support options for the organization's members," said Brian Loew, ClinicaHealth CEO. "ClinicaHealth's online community platform enables survivors and / or caregivers to immediately connect with newly diagnosed patients, offering people full and instantaneous access to the kind of support they need. As people seek out support in a variety of ways, the ClinicaHealth-powered community provides a one-of-a-kind space where members can share experiences and thoughts and securely connect with others in similar situations."

The LCA is the only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to advocating for people living with lung cancer or those at risk for the disease. The organization's initiatives aim to educate public policy leaders of the need for greater resources for lung cancer research while changing the face of lung cancer and reducing the stigma associated with the disease. The LCA offers unique patient education and support programs focused on helping people directly affected by lung cancer. Its programs include the Lung Cancer Hotline, a Phone Buddy program, Lung Cancer Awareness Month, a quarterly newsletter and Advocacy Alert, where advocates can receive alerts to participate in or respond to important lung cancer issues.

"It had been our goal for some time to create an online community for our members," said Maureen Rigney, Program Manager at the LCA. "The online community service adds to and expands our patient support options and allows partnerships and collaborations we wouldn't have had otherwise. It is extremely important for people to be able to connect and the online community is a place people can go to for support anytime they need it."
