Builder of Online Health Communities Changes Name to Inspire
Provides health social networking sites to nonprofits for free
McLean VA---A company that builds online communities for health organizations has changed its name from “ClinicaHealth” to “Inspire”.
The company was founded 2005 to allow individuals and caregivers facing specific health conditions to connect with one another in a secure, privacy-protected environment.
“We changed our name to “Inspire” to better reflect our vision—which is to offer people at critical health junctures a way to support and communicate with others in similar situations,” said Brian Loew, Inspire’s founder and chief executive officer.
To date, Inspire has built more than 30 communities for highly-respected for-profit and nonprofit organizations such as Discovery Health, the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health, and the Arthritis Foundation.
Inspire communities, ordinarily built at no cost to non-profits, provide moderated discussion groups, blogs, opportunities for personal correspondence, technical support, and other services. The latest information on particular health conditions is supplied by the associated non-profits.
Most Inspire communities are funded by foundations or advertising. (Inspire donates 10 per cent of all advertising revenues to participating nonprofits). Non-profits that do not accept advertising may pay for service.
Inspire also builds sites for and partners with for-profit companies. In the future, funding will come from companies or organizations wishing to contact online community members who specifically opt to participate in public health or other research programs or to be notified of clinical trials.
Inspire has built communities for the ALS Association, Arthritis Foundation, Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, Association of Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders, Inc., Cancer Consultants, Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, Cardiac Arrhythmias Research and Education Foundation, National Cervical Cancer/HPV Coalition, Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health, Discovery Health National Body Challenge, Lung Cancer Alliance, National Ovarian Cancer Alliance, National Organization of Rare Diseases (NORD), National Osteoporosis Foundation, Nephcure Foundation, Preemie Magazine, Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, VHL Family Alliance, US News and World Report, Wilson's Disease Association, International, Women and Cancer and WomenHeart
Inspire, known until recently as ClinicaHealth, is a privately-held company based in McLean, Virginia.
